IamHeart is an advanced spiritual meditation school and a non-profit that teaches the fundamentals of heartbeat rhythm meditation. It conveys the idea that one can use meditation to interact with your deeper self on an emotional level and beyond. Amid the pandemic, the organization had to lean into alternate channels other than the traditional in-person classes to practice their teachings. That's where the app came into play.
Over the course of six months I conceptualized the app's new visual direction and built the user experience from the ground up. The central concept was to decouple the in-depth courses and journeys from the rest of the app by turning them into dark mode, evoking a sense of depth and immersion. Considering the vast number of meditations and their abstract nature, I opted to incorporate a variety of nature-inspired images to differentiate them. This approach led to an elegant, high-quality look&feel of the app, which initially seemed challenging to accomplish with the images provided by the client. To wrap it all up, I designed a basic design system covering all the main modules, components, and guidelines to help the team build the new app while I was overseeing the development.
